Yang's background combines doctoral research in medical robotics with robotics R&D at UBTECH and experience as Senior Director of Software at Horizon Surgical Systems. His work connects a system's technical details with the decisions that depend on them.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics Track) from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is an inventor on nine granted patents.
Yang serves as an Advisor-in-Residence at the University of Hong Kong's Techno-Entrepreneurship Core and as a member of the HKU Technology Transfer Office's External Evaluation Panel. His professional service also includes NSF review panels and membership of the EPSRC Peer Review College.
At Plays Research Limited, Yang leads the review of technical claims, development records and supporting evidence. The practice works directly with English and Chinese technical materials, connecting engineering findings to questions of cost, timing, execution and technical responsibility.
